Points of Critical thinking and Reflection

Image
The Ripple Effect in Sustainability: It demonstrates how one action can change the whole process of chain. We were wondering how our action can bring larger changes. This learning boosted our critical thinking about sustainability. It also shows the connection between human behaviors and the ecosystem, which supports the revolution. Also, we did focus on one thing, and that was communication. Through this, we created awareness regarding friendlier applications and how we can reduce the over-plastic.  Turning hesitation to confidence: Our main goal was to step out of our comfort zone and nervousness. We decided to engage with people more openly and clearly about our strategy. Each other's support and motivation gave us a way to reach out to all individuals, also, we learnt how unity is important in our teamwork. This program was based on different ideologies, confidence, soft skills, and active listening rather than merely focusing on promotion.  Bringing revolution thro...

Authentic Experience

Image
By March 13, 2025, our preparation gave us the confidence to connect with people and promote Friendlier initiatives. We visited all the food courts of Humber, and we commenced our work at the food emporium at 12 p.m., the busiest area of the campus. There, we spoke with numerous pupils about our proposal, such as emphasizing on benefits of reusing containers to the environment and using the Friendlier application helps to get back refunds that they paid when purchasing food. Honestly speaking, we found that many people were unaware of the friendlier program. When we explained all the steps to them, they were surprised and glad to grasp it. Nonetheless, we unfortunately noticed that certain individuals mistakenly throw their containers into regular garbage bins rather than putting them into the designated friendlier blue bins; this showed us that awareness is an important step.  Now, we are about to share our most remarkable and touching moment of that day. At Starbucks, we u...

Our Roadmap

Image
On February 26,2025, our group of four members began planning our friendlier initiative. We visited at office of Sustainability at Humber Polytechnic, where we received a warm welcome from Gabi Hentschke. She guided us clearly, explaining the procedure in five steps. She demonstrated how to scan containers through the friendlier app and highlighted its merit points, such as the refund system. We were surprised to learn about this app and its incredible benefits, which were new to us as well. After this session, we collected resources from the office, comprising T-shirts and containers, to support our volunteer work.   Before commencing our volunteer work, we planned our approach, including deciding our locations, scheduling the timing, and practicing how to speak in front of the public. Our key approach was Eye contact, which plays a pivotal role in effective communication.

Our Story

Image
We are a sustainability-driven group aiming to reach folks and educate them about friendlier mission. Our mission is to promote sustainability, especially through reusable containers. As we know, small steps make bigger results. Friendlier has already supported reusing over 3,030,515 containers. According to the data of Friendlier application, we came to know that it became bigger business that expanded over 200 areas. Our team believes in unity and transparency because working together not only helps us protect the environment but also ensures a better future for upcoming generations.                                   Let us make it sustainable because our future depends on us.  Friendlier Web App . Building a Sustainable Future at Humber College  Sustainability means balancing natural resources, reducing waste, and promoting recycling. Our top concern is to preserve the environment for both present and future generations. We worked collaboratively as a team at Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning to promote sustainable practices. Our main technique was to talk with teachers and pupils to encourage eco-friendly practices. Particularly, we brought up awareness about the importance of reusable food containers as a step toward waste reduction.  Through this practice, our primary goal is to reduce waste significantly and encourage a more sustainable and eco-friendly campus community.
